As of December 10th, the “NTB/BZB” bus stop will be given its new name “Hightech Campus”. The renaming of the stop is necessary because the two educational institutions have changed their names.

 

 

With the timetable change, one of the last relics will disappear, belonging to the former Interstate University of Technology NTB Buchs remind. As of September 1, 2020, the educational and research institution was dissolved and integrated into the OST-Ostschweizer Fachhochschule as one of three locations. Through the merger of the two vocational and further training centers in Buchs and Sargans, the former bzb also changed its name to bzbs as of August 1, 2022. What remained to this day was the name of the bus stop “ntb/bzb”. As of December 10th, this will be renamed “Hightech Campus”.

The federal and cantonal governments approved the application

The name change was carried out by the Hightech Campus association Buchs initiated. This is committed to the holistic development, revitalization and marketing of the campus area. Its main goal is to Buchs to strengthen it as a location for education, research and innovation and to coordinate common interests. «As city president and vice president of the Hightech Campus Buchs I took up the concern and applied for the corresponding name change to BUS Ostschweiz. In my opinion, changing the name is the only right step," explains Rolf Pfeiffer when unveiling the newly labeled stop board. Andreas Deterling, Head of Offer and Development at BUS Ostschweiz AG, submitted the corresponding application for a name change to the Federal Office of Transport and the Office for Public Transport of the Canton of St.Gallen. After a hearing, both bodies approved the application.

With the name change from “ntb/bzb” to “Hightech Campus” the Hightech Campus becomes Buchs with all its partner organizations not only visible but also audible to public transport users. Especially since the stops are announced on the bus. Marco Thoma, President Hightech Campus Buchs, is pleased: “Renaming the bus stop is a small but important step for us. We see this as an ideal platform to further establish the campus area among the population.” The new name is a sign of the spirit of optimism. “In the background there is a high-tech campus in the club Buchs worked intensively on various projects. Ultimately, our goal is to further strengthen the region as a business location and living space. This involves lots of small steps. “We are making progress with these too,” says Marco Thoma convinced. At the same time, the individual institutions and companies on the high-tech campus are developing Buchs are also positive and are investing in the infrastructure on the one hand and in their offerings and services on the other.
