The International School Rheintal (ISR) in Buchs announces the launch of its academic scholarship program for local students.

The scholarship is aimed at academically gifted students from the region who would benefit from an international education but are unable to meet the associated economic challenges. The scholarship provides financial support for two students from grades 10 to 12 over a period of three years. By covering all school costs, they are enabled to acquire the IB diploma, which is recognized at universities worldwide. Applications for the scholarship program are now open and the first two students admitted will begin 2024th grade at ISR in August 10.

First donations received

The Hilti Family Foundation Liechtenstein has made an initial donation to the scholarship fund, which covers the cost of supporting one student for three

years, thereby enabling the ISR to launch the academic scholarship program. The ISR also received generous support from the Karl Zünd Foundation, the Rotary Clubs Werdenberg and Liechtenstein-Eschnerberg, as well as donations from families and friends of the ISR. Further supporters and donations are currently being sought.

Heiner Graf, Chair of the Board of the International School Rheintal, grew up in the region and said: “The ISR provides an important service for the diversity, competitiveness and future orientation of the region. The International Baccalaureate curriculum offered opens doors to organizations and universities around the world. The scholarship will now make this education more accessible to individual, talented students and is a great opportunity for young, internationally oriented people.”

Liz Free, CEO and Director of the ISR, said: "At ISR we are committed to diversity, equality and inclusion. With the academic scholarship program we are taking a big step closer to this mission and would like to thank the supporters around the ISR and the local foundations that made it possible to launch the scholarship program.”

Interested families can now apply for the scholarship on the ISR website https://www.isr.ch/scholarship  and find out more about the application process or donation options for the program.
